Building Community Through Partnerships

Marshall and ATS came through huge in November and donated their entire rental set up. Over 25 completes most of which had only been ridden in an indoor skatepark. I quickly set about replacing the damaged decks and servicing the boards. During this Andrew Montoya of Thrift Skate WA worked with me to buy some gear, new and used, at cost. Allowing me to update the set ups and build new ones.  These two people and companies began partnerships that continue to help our mission. Thanks to them and private citizens that donate gear and cash we are able to keep this organization in motion. But what to do with this huge amount of boards in my garage? With the holidays approaching I wanted to find an outlet to make people happy.

Helping Homeless Youth With Youth Care Seattle

In December I placed an order with our local shop 35th North for a new setup to put under the tree for my daughter. When I went to pick it up at the shop it happened, I had found the partnership that I was looking for. . Through a conversation with the manager Tony he suggested Youth Care Seattle, a group that provides services to the homeless youth of Seattle. Skateboards are one of the most requested items from their  clients. These boards provide transportation, a creative outlet, community, an escape, and an educational tool. All of these are so important to all of us, but more so to those experiencing homelessnes. Another quick set of emails and calls and I was handing boards to Eugene, a manager for Youth Care Seattle and a long time friend of Marshall (ATS). Community, that is what is making this happen!

Thus far Skateboards4All has provided the Youth Care Seattle 29 boards for distribution to homeless youth. It is a partnership that we cherish and will continue into the future.

Keep skating and take care!
